Meditation Benefits:

Introduction

More than ever in the fast lane of life, we are controlled by traffic lights, stop streets, yield signs as time has speeded up.

People of all ages, backgrounds, and traditions are becoming aware of the benefits of meditation – not only for health purposes but also for the generating of peace and tranquility that it brings.

Over the years of our meditation groups, it has always been our aim to empower you to heal physically, emotionally and mentally.

Simply put, it is about focusing your attention on something in the present moment eg. A flower, a candle, a sound, or your breath. It is through this practice that the mind settles down. Meditation is as easy as just sitting with an open quietened mind, not to be seen as something that you do, rather that you practice.

It has been said that “meditation is the path, not the goal”. Think of the most harmonious beautiful sound, the sense the feeling which you feel – you want to keep this with you forever! It is for this reason that you need to meditate regularly in order to maintain and amplify the effect. Meditation welcomes integration, lessening separation.

Why Practice Meditation?

Meditation assists you to know in which direction you are heading in life, how to respond in any given situation for example allow your emotions to flow or when to suppress.

Naturally your goals for meditation will alter from time to time whether healing a specific ailment or attaining higher spiritual levels of understanding. Remembering that thought is creative and you are the driver of your vehicle and it is with clarity and tranquility that you can see the choices available to you.

Meditation enhances creativity whether you are a dancer or musician. Students enhance their performance with learning abilities, concentration or writing a test. It supports all relationships from parent, child and spouse, in all sectors of the business environment by relaxing, bringing clarity around decision making and positive energy into the workplace.

Promote well being

It has been long proven that persons who meditate live longer, maintain health and escape many degenerative diseases. In some cases persons with addictions may benefit more from counseling than meditation. However, it is most beneficial to promote emotional balance and relief from stress related diseases. Interestingly people that meditate regularly are able to decrease their heart rate, breathing rate and therefore lower their blood pressure. Alpha brain wave activity moves from the left to right hemisphere during the course of meditation.

Spiritually the goal of meditation is to create balance between mind, heart and soul.
